There are stories of lost treasures around the world by land and by sea;
however, the State of Texas has its own legends! Since Montana is larger than
life, so are the stories that can be told about lost treasures. Since Montana is
named The Treasure State, there may a lot of truth to the treasure
legends!
Treasure hunters have been looking for sunken and buried treasure for centuries.
There have been many books and records made of legends, and actual findings of
coins and other valuable relics. You can see these findings in museums and other
places of interest.
Whether some of these stories are fact or fiction, no one really knows for
sure anymore. The hunt or chase of these lost treasures is a wonderful past
time. Who knows, maybe you will be one of the lucky ones that discovers the
mother lode of all time!


Montana Treasures Just Waiting To Be Found!
A lost shipment of gold from General Custer's troops was buried near the
Little Bighorn battle site and may still be there.
The Henry Plummer gang loot was hidden near Bannack, Sun River, Cascade
County, and several other specified areas. Is there a stolen treasure,
estimated at $6 million dollars in gold nuggets, coins, and gold dust still
hidden in the stark Montana hills?
Hold-up gangs used to hang out at Alder during the early gold rush days when
stagecoaches made regular runs between Bannack and Virginia City. Much of the
loot has never been recovered.
The Horse thief Cache near Billings is said to be where cattle rustlers hid gold
treasure.
At Drummond in Granite County, a Chinese miner is said to have buried five
pounds of gold coins or nuggets in a can under a tree.
Robbers' Roost at Sheridan, Madison County, was a popular place where thieves
secreted their plunder.
Virginia City, Montana was the site of extensive gold discoveries in the
1860s. It is said that much treasure is still hidden in the region.
